July 17, 2006—McCune-Brooks Hospital, in Carthage, Missouri, has selected Siemens Building Technologies, Inc., to help create the next generation of healthcare facility by delivering a tightly integrated, multi-million dollar package of building automation and communications technologies for its new digital hospital, says Siemens. Currently under construction, McCune-Brooks Hospital broke ground for the new facility last year.
At the heart of the McCune-Brooks digital hospital is the Siemens APOGEE Building Automation System, which provides integrated control of the hospital’s HVAC systems, indoor air quality, fire alarm system, CCTV and security system, chillers, energy usage, and other critical alarm systems.
The platform provides integrated control from designated workstations onsite as well as remotely via the Internet, notes the company, adding that optimum functionality and ease of operation are accomplished through common visualization at the operator workstation(s), both on site and remotely via the Internet.
McCune-Brooks Hospital administrators commissioned the design of a new $43 million-plus facility and tapped Siemens to be the sole-source technology supplier. Siemens, a leading provider of building controls, fire safety, and security system solutions, is working closely with JE Dunn Construction Co., a leader in healthcare construction throughout the US.
