August 24, 2005—Montel has participated in Canada’s Grande Bibliotheque project by supplying upscale cantilever library shelving and storage systems for the library’s collections, according to Montel, a pioneer of high-density shelving storage system solutions.
With the amalgamation of the Grande Bibliotheque du Quebec and the Bibliotheque Nationale du Quebec, the $141 million, six-level, state-of-the-art public library required efficient storage solutions to house more than 4 million documents such as print documents, audiovisual documents, microforms, prints, fine bindings.
The vast 33,000 meters square multifunctional public library needed to provide open and free access to more than 4 million documents, including one million books, while optimizing space use and easy access to secure and safe shelving systems that would stack Quebec’s national library collection.
Montel’s custom-design engineered solution involved the supply and installation of stationary library shelving exceeding space utilization needs and performance specifications.
