Multiple technologies prosper as homeland security concerns escalate

November 2, 2001—New analyses from Frost & Sullivan, a strategic market consulting and training firm, reveals that several technology markets are poised for unprecedented revenue gains in the wake of the September terrorist attacks against the United States. Specific technologies that are predicted to experience the largest gains include:

  • Chemical and biological detection technologies.
  • Electronic access control systems that are integrated into building architecture.
  • Biometric technologies that protect against information and identity fraud.
  • Radio-frequency location and tracking systems.
  • Airport security systems.

“The incidents of September 11th, along with ongoing bio-terrorism in the United States, have forced us to review our outlook towards personal security, travel, and the safety of assets,” says Frost & Sullivan Vice President Rajiv Kumar. “The security industry’s players and political heavyweights are redefining security. New procedures and advanced systems will be part of our everyday life from this point forward.”
