May 12, 2008—Nedap AVI’s newly released hands-free access reader, called Transit Entry, is the latest in technology for secure and hands-free access, says the company. The Transit Entry reader offers long range identification of persons and vehicles up to 4 meters [12 ft] reliably and consistently.
The reader combines the convenience of traditional door automation with the security of restricted access, says the company.
The Transit Entry readers are installed next to a door or gate. A long range tag visible in line of sight of the reader will be identified and, depending on authorization ,the access is granted.
The Transit Entry has benefits in situations where people cannot use their hands to present their ID badge to open the door, but where high security needs to be maintained. Some applications are emergency rooms, disabled access (DDA compliance), secure warehouse facilities, building access and gated vehicle access (condominiums).
The reader is featured with Wiegand communication for seamless integration in existing access control systems. Therefore it can easily be used for any new or existing application without complex installation.
