June 21, 2004—Shown at NeoCon in its Merchandise Mart showroom, Davis Furniture displayed additions to the Lucid Chair Series showing larger chair scales, back options, and a Synchro-tilt mechanism available on all caster base chairs. The Lucid chair is a truly “passive ergonomic” chair, and this year two new models have been added with a wider seat version in an ultra mid- and ultra-high back heights.
The new larger scaled series offers two more inches in width and depth. A new arm has been designed to fit the larger scaled chair. It has the same radius appearance as the original Lucid arm but has a wider arm support that tapers to a smaller scale for connection to the support frame. A new base has also been created for the larger scaled chairs.
Backs of all chairs in the Lucid family will be available with the webbed back construction. The use of specially developed webbing material in the construction marked the beginning of a partnership between Davis and DuPont. DuPont Lycra spandex adds durability and performance. The soft supportive webbing naturally conforms to the user’s shape providing supple support throughout the entire range of movement and offering a comfort that plywood would not offer. There are nine colors of webbing now offered.
