February 12, 2003—The National Fire Protection Association is offering online review of its new NFPA 5000, Building Construction and Safety Code—the first building code to be developed through a process accredited by the American National Standards Institute.

NFPA 5000 is part of the Comprehensive Consensus Codes (C3), the first full, integrated set of codes and standards developed through ANSI-accredited processes. The C3 set will also include codes that provide safety guidelines for electrical distribution, plumbing, liquefied petroleum gas, HVAC and refrigeration systems, energy systems, flammable and combustible liquids, and other standards. The C3 set is being developed through a partnership involving NFPA, the International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials, Western Fire Chiefs Association, and the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers.
