February 24, 2003—The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) has a new Business Emergency Management Planning topic page. According to NIOSH, a comprehensive plan for dealing with terrorism-related events should include specific instructions to building occupants, actions to be taken by facilities management, and first responder notification procedures.
The Planning Guides (some in PDF format) linked from the site to assist in the development of these plans include:
- Emergency Management Guide for Business and Industry (FEMA)
- Critical Incident Protocol (Michigan State University)
- OSHA Evacuation Plans and Procedures eTool
