Onset’s new remote energy monitoring system provides Internet access 24/7

January 16, 2008—Onset Computer Corporation, the “HOBO” data logger company, has unveiled the HOBO Remote Monitoring System, an industrial-grade data logging system that provides energy managers, facility managers and others with instant access to energy and HVAC/R systems data anywhere and anytime via the Internet.

The new system combines rugged data logging hardware with built-in GSM cellular communications and HOBOlink, a new Web-enabled software platform, according to the company. HOBOlink allows users to access current and historical data, set alarm notifications and relay activations, and manage and control HOBO Remote Monitoring systems right from their desktop.

Users have access to a wide selection of sensors for measuring a range of parameters including temperature, relative humidity, kW, kWh, AC voltage, AC amps, DC amps, gauge and differential pressure, CO2.

The system features a plug-and-play architecture that allows users to easily connect a range of Smart Sensors without programming, wiring or calibration. It also has a double weatherproof enclosure for years of dependable operation in harsh environmental conditions. This is an advantage, for example, in applications where rooftop HVAC or other outdoor systems needs to be monitored.

The HOBO Remote Monitoring System’s powerful alarm capabilities enable users to set up alarm conditions for any connected sensors and receive automatic notification via email or cell phone text messages when monitored conditions exceed user-defined limits. The system also includes a relay that can be activated by alarm conditions for automatically turning equipment such as pumps and ventilators on and off.

The HOBO Remote Monitoring System is currently available from Onset and is priced at $799. For details, visit the Onset Web site.
