PATI releases Mold Scan to detect active mold growth

January 31, 2003—Prism Analytical Technologies (PATI) has released Mold Scan, a new analytical tool that helps property managers, schools, insurers, and others locate active mold growth problems.

PATI, an analytical laboratory with a broad array of products and services addressing Indoor Air Quality issues, has developed the technology to detect the presence of mold metabolites at levels as low as 90 parts per trillion.

Mold Scan screens for microbial metabolites known as microbial volatile organic compounds (MVOCs) that themselves can cause irritation and allergic reactions but also indicate the presence of actively growing mold.

Clients of PATI use Mold Scan tubes to take air samples at the site and then send the Mold Scan tubes to PATI for analysis. They receive a report that lists the levels of MVOCs found and gives an interpretation indicating the level of active mold growth.
