“Rensselaer Polytechnic Selects OFMS, Inc. for Research Project”

OFMS, Inc., a non-profit spin off corporation from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology that develops leading-edge Computer-Aided Facilities Management (CAFM) systems, was selected by the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) in Troy, NY from a field of 17 to engage in a strategic consulting assignment precipitated by RPI’s new President and MIT Corporate Member, Dr. Shirley Jackson. In support of the RPI Trustee’s acceptance of Dr. Jackson’s exciting “Rensselaer Plan” aimed at creating a world-class research focus to RPI’s existing reputation for its academic programs, OFMS’s consulting engagement with RPI’s President’s Cabinet is to:

  • review and make recommendations for addressing the facilities impact of the “Rensselaer Plan” to triple RPI’s sponsored research activities;
  • review and prescribe techniques for increasing the utilization of RPI’s existing facilities;
  • design and recommend space management processes and policies to address the issues necessary to guide RPI through this transition period and beyond, with a particular emphasis on being prepared for the inevitable government audits that will occur; and,
  • design and recommend a governance structure to assist RPI in carrying out a space management and allocation activity to cope with the anticipated pressure on RPI’s facilities and infrastructure that inevitably follow any activity that impacts physical assets.
The OFMS team assembled to carry out this engagement includes Kreon Cyros as Project Principal, Roy Davey as Project Manager, and Robert Boes as Project Leader. OFMS can be contacted at www.insite.org.
