July 22, 2005—Bird-X has introduced Spikes Needle Strips, which are designed to keep pest birds from their usual roosting places: rooftops, ledges, sills, building projections, trusses and beams, balconies, tree branches, airport directional signs, boats and boat docks, electrical lines, air conditioners, public transit stations, garages and more.
According to the company, infesting pest birds create many problems, including dangerous, unsightly and unhealthy conditions, plus money spent for repairs and cleaning.
The product works by affixing strips of economical, durable rust-proof plastic spikes to places where birds roost. The strips can mount on any surface, even ones that are curved or irregular, according to the company.
The spikes are engineered of 100% post-industrial scrap plastic. Discarded plastic products are ground, formed into pellets, melted, dyed, and molded into brand new products, in this case, spikes, the company says.
