UL awards C-UL mark to Sellstrom Manufacturing for PPE equipment

October 4, 2002—Underwriters Laboratories Inc. (UL), a global product testing and certification organization, recently issued its first Canadian Listing Mark (C-UL) for personal protective equipment (PPE) to Sellstrom Manufacturing Company for their eye safety wear, goggles, face shields, and welding helmets. Sellstrom, based in the United States (Illinois), manufactures a full line of PPE including safety goggles, face shields, respirators, and fall-arrest equipment.

The C-UL Mark enables manufacturers to sell products more easily in Canada. The products carrying the Mark have been evaluated to Canadian safety requirements, which may be somewhat different from US safety requirements. The C-UL Mark appears on appliances, computer equipment, vending machines, household burglar alarm systems, lighting fixtures, and many other types of products. UL reports that four other PPE manufacturers have already come to UL seeking to have the C-UL Mark applied to their products.
