Ultimate Comfort Systems awarded contract for Florida Hilton valued at $900,000

November 6, 2002—Jalaram Hotels Inc. of St. Augustine, FL and the Compass Group, Inc. of Amelia Island, FL have awarded Ultimate Comfort Systems Inc. (UCS), a wholly owned subsidiary of PowerCold, a $900,000 mechanical design build contract for its new Hilton Garden Inn at Historic Monson Bayfront Resort in St. Augustine, FL.

The new Hilton Garden Inn will be designed to use UCS’s patented HVAC system and its new DesertMaster total energy fresh air system. The proprietary DesertMaster system uses cool or warm exhaust air being circulated out of the hotel to cool or heat incoming outside fresh air. The desiccant section is then used to remove the moisture from each individual guest room and all the public spaces in the hotel, 24 hours per day seven days per week. The DesertMaster is highly energy efficient, eliminating the need for approximately 20 tons of additional air conditioning equipment.

The Hilton Garden Inn is the second hotel contract for UCS in the St. Augustine area. The other hotel is also using the UCS system and includes an additional solar plant for heating and hot water. Both hotels are to be monitored by the Florida Energy Office. After completion of the testing, the information will be made available to the hospitality industry.

Two hotels equipped with UCS HVAC systems have received the Environmental Protection Agency’s “Energy Star Award.” One of those is the only hotel to receive a perfect 100% rating. This award is based upon the air quality and energy savings of the hotel after a full year of operation.
