Johns Manville announces new line of formaldehyde-free acoustic insulation

May 23, 2003—Acoustic XG, Johns Manville’s new line of Next Generation formaldehyde-free acoustic insulation products, includes user-friendly, environmentally wise products designed to provide quality acoustical performance in commercial and industrial applications.

The Acoustic XG products include Whispertone Wallboard XG, Whispertone Tackboard XG, and Microlite XG. All three product lines are naturally white in color, thus enabling manufacturers to develop new lines of ceiling tiles and wallboard.

The Next Generation Whispertone Wallboard XG is manufactured through the combination of fibers bonded with a special formaldehyde-free thermosetting resin to produce structurally rigid board-type insulation. With a smooth surface and white color, Whispertone Wallboard XG is available either plain or with a Dura-Glass mat facing. Applications include office partitions, ceiling panels, wall panel applications, and HVAC equipment insulation.

Whispertone Tackboard XG is a fiberglass board constructed from highly resilient flame-attenuated glass fibers with mat facers on one or both surfaces. Properties include a smooth surface and uniformity of color. It provides a tackable surface for acoustical office furniture and wall panel applications.

To round out the Acoustic XG line, Microlite XG fiberglass equipment insulation is a lightweight and resilient blanket-type thermal and acoustical insulation made of flame-attenuated glass fibers Bonded with a formaldehyde-free thermosetting resin. It can be used for a variety of appliance, equipment, and office furniture applications that require high thermal and acoustical efficiency in a minimal space.
