June 2, 2003—The new Topo 3-Dimensional System from USG Interiors transforms flat ceiling planes into expressive, undulating landscapes full of form, dimension, and color. The unique system consists of pre-formed translucent and opaque LEXAN infill panels installed into a curved suspension system. The infill panels are designed in four-panel modules to create the appearance of gently rolling curves.
The visual impact of the system can be enhanced through independently supported lighting that highlights the panel’s soft, translucent colors. According to USG Interiors, lighting and utilities are easily integrated into the system through optional 4-inch-diameter utility circles, which are positioned either at the high or low points of the suspension system intersections or centered on individual panels.
The Topo 3-Dimensional System is available in two profiles: a 12-inch depth creating strong undulations and high visual impact, and a shallower 8-inch depth for a subtler look and feel.
Both systems offer creative ceiling treatments for a wide range of commercial applications, including retail, hospitality, office, education, healthcare, transportation, and entertainment environments.
The 2-by 2-foot LEXAN panels are available in five standard colors: clear translucent, blue translucent, glass green translucent, white translucent, and white opaque. Custom colors are also available.
USG Interiors offers several design tools that enable specifiers to create custom Topo designs. The newly upgraded USG Design Wizard, an interactive software tool that facilitates the design of many USG Interiors ceilings, now features Topo system design capabilities. The Design Wizard can be downloaded from USG and is offered on CD. It integrates with AutoCAD release 2000, 2001, 2002, and ADT 3.0.
The USG Web site also features a free Topo Online Designer that enables specifiers to interactively create 2-D and 3-D Topo ceiling designs. The completed designs can be downloaded for use in AutoCAD and other CAD design systems. Specifiers can also download the entire selection of Topo CAD blocks in either 2-D or 3-D.
