The Ashkin Group specializes in greening the cleaning process and provides green consulting services for building owners, product manufacturers, distribu-tors and cleaning contractors, as well as advocates, environmen-talists and policy makers. The Ashkin Group is led by Stephen Ashkin, who has played a pivotal role in setting industry standards, promoting environmentally pre-ferable products and advocating socially responsible practices.

It is a Think and Do Tank that develops new methods, metrics and standards for environmental improvement, and it also helps businesses, organizations, and individuals implement sustainability measures and document their achievements. By working on both the thinking and the doing sides of addressing environmental issues, it is able to make implementing sustainability very practical.

The USGBC is a non-profit community of leaders working to advance buildings that are envi-ronmentally responsible, profita-ble and healthy places to live and work. Driving its mission to transform the built environment is the Council's LEED® (Leaders-ship in Energy and Environmen-tal Design) green building certif-fication system. LEED is a third party certification program and the nationally accepted bench-mark for the design, construction and operation of high perfor-mance green buildings.
