ISS wins major integrated facility services contracts in Germany, Canada

by Brianna Crandall — November 24, 2014—Global facility services provider ISS announced two new major integrated facility services contracts in recent weeks, one in Europe and the other in North America.

ISS Germany: Vattenfall in Germany

ISS Germany agreed to an integrated facility services strategic partnership with Vattenfall in Germany, the largest win ever for ISS in the country. Vattenfall, 100-percent owned by the Swedish state, is one of Europe’s largest generators of electricity, and the largest producer of heat, points out ISS, with operations in the Nordic countries, Germany, the Netherlands, France and the U.K.

The contract covers a wide range of services, including facility services, work space management, cleaning, security, support services, catering, fleet management, and maintenance. ISS will deliver services to approximately 500 Vattenfall sites across Germany, and more than 500 Vattenfall employees will transfer to ISS. The partnership will run for five years, with an option for a two-year extension. It will commence January 1, 2015.

The contract between ISS and Vattenfall in Germany is intended to deliver better cost efficiency to Vattenfall and support its strategic focus on core business and operational excellence. The strategic partnership builds on shared values of continuously developing services, and respect for employees, and local communities.

“With the sale of our facility services subsidiaries, we continue our consolidation ambitions to meet the tough conditions in the European energy market,” commented Tuomo Hatakka, head of business region Continental/UK and head of Vattenfall in Germany. “Our goal was to find a responsible partner to take over our facility business and employees. Our goal is to provide security to our employees and to enable our facility services subsidiaries to grow under a new ownership.”

The new contract supports ISS’s strategy and expansion in Germany, which the company considers a very important market. ISS has been in Germany since 1960; in 2013, the company had approximately 10,000 employees in Germany. ISS also won delivery of facility services to all Vattenfall’s facilities in Sweden earlier in 2014.

ISS Canada: Molson Coors in Canada

ISS North America also announced a new integrated facility services partnership with Molson Coors Brewing Company, in North America. Molson Coors is one of the world’s largest brewers; its operating segments include Canada, the United States, Europe, and Molson Coors International (MCI), points out ISSA. The company’s diverse portfolio of owned and partner brands include signature brands Carling, Coors Banquet, Coors Light, Molson Canadian and Staropramen.

ISS will oversee and deliver facility services to major Molson Coors sites throughout Canada.

ISS will oversee and deliver facility services to major Molson Coors sites throughout Canada, including breweries in Toronto, Montreal, Vancouver, St. John’s and Moncton as well as corporate buildings in Toronto and Montreal. The contract commences November 2014 and will run for five years. Services will also expand into distribution centers located throughout the Province of Quebec in December.

ISS will deliver a full range of integrated facility services to the brewing company with building maintenance, security and janitorial services, along with a variety of other services.

The North American partnership between ISS and Molson Coors is an important part of ISS’s expansion throughout the continent, and builds on a longstanding relationship between the two in the United Kingdom, and the partnership has potential to expand to additional countries over time. The new agreement was formed as part of the Global Corporate Clients program within ISS.
