Cintas helps retailers prepare for safe holiday season

by Brianna Crandall — December 7, 2015—With the arrival of the holiday shopping season, workplace product and service provider Cintas Corp. has outlined seven tips to help retailers experience a safe and successful holiday season.

John Engel, senior marketing manager for Cintas, pointed out:

With holiday sales expected to represent nearly 19 percent of the retail industry’s annual sales, it is imperative for retailers to ensure their stores are equipped to handle the surge of holiday shoppers.

Cintas’s tips for a successful holiday shopping season include:

  • Inspect: Check doors, locks, windows, and other glass surfaces for minor cracks. Ensure all fire protection and emergency systems are in working order.
  • Prepare: Make sure all building repairs are complete and the store is thoroughly cleaned.
  • Prep for inclement weather: Protect floors with a mat system, and stock ice and snow removal products.
  • Check first aid cabinets: Be sure first aid cabinets are stocked with adequate supplies.
  • Stock up: Make sure store has enough supplies such as toilet paper and cleaning solutions to handle the additional traffic.
  • Practice the plan: Conduct simulations with employees on how to handle unexpected scenarios such as heavy storms, electricity outages, or emergency closures.
  • Know who to call: Contract with an emergency service provider who can quickly address service interruptions such as broken doors or drain backups.
