October 24, 2004—Constellation Energy Group and Wisconsin Energy Corporation have formed an agreement resulting in the purchase by Constellation Energy of two companies, Blackhawk Energy Services, a full service provider of natural gas and electricity to customers in Illinois, and Kaztex Energy Management, a full service provider of natural gas to customers in Wisconsin.
Under the terms of the agreement, Constellation has acquired 100 percent ownership in both companies, which on a combined basis, serve approximately 1,100 customers throughout Illinois and Wisconsin.
“With the addition of these two companies to our portfolio, Constellation Energy’s total natural gas supply for large customers now exceeds 250 billion cubic feet per year, significantly enhancing our position in this competitive marketplace,” said Thomas F. Brady, senior vice president.
Since 2002, Constellation Energy has continued to increase its load serving business through the acquisitions of NewEnergy, Alliance and Fellon- McCord, and now Blackhawk and Kaztex. As a result, Constellation Energy has transformed itself into the nation’s largest competitive supplier of energy to large customers.
