March 15, 2002—EMCOR Group, Inc., a provider of mechanical and electrical construction services and facilities services, has finalized the acquisition of 19 subsidiary companies of Comfort Systems USA. According to EMCOR, the acquisition significantly enhances EMCOR’s geographic footprint, increasing the company’s presence in growing industrial markets, while creating further cross-selling opportunities for the company’s facilities services operations. All of the companies have well-established positions in their local markets, according to EMCOR, with long-standing customer relationships that characterize all of EMCOR’s operations. Their addition jjto the Group will further expand the scope of services EMCOR offers its customers and its ability to support their needs throughout the US.
The acquired companies had 2001 revenues of approximately $650 million and employ approximately 3,800 technical and service employees in 11 states. Based predominantly in the Midwest and New Jersey, the acquired companies are active in the installation and maintenance of mechanical systems, including design and installation of process and fire protection systems, and provide services to a wide variety of industries, including the food processing, pharmaceutical and manufacturing/distribution sectors.
