International Facility Management Association will be using the computer to administer the exam for CFM–Certified Facility Management–thus making it easier and simpler for professionals eager to earn that designation. The exam will be administered electronically at nearly 300 Prometric Inc. Centers (formerly Sylvan Learning) throughout North America. The new computerized format has been streamlined, eliminating the necessity of reading from one or two exam booklets and searching for the right block on the answer form. With the electronic system, candidates can simply click on their selected answer.
Once an on-line application has been received and approved, candidates will receive Prometric contact information electronically. They will have a two-week period to contact the closest test center and schedule a convenient exam date within two months. Result of the exam will be delivered immediately, or it can be mailed if the candidate so wishes.
IFMA will continue offering paper exams outside North America. In addition, states IFMA, international applicants will be able to purchase applications online, and some will be translated into other languages to simplify the process.
