IMSI releases TurboCAD v. 8 with new mechanical and architectural design features

January 30, 2002—IMSI, a developer of visual content, design, and graphics software has released a new upgrade of their flagship product, TurboCAD. According to research firm PC Data, TurboCAD in its various versions has been the number one selling CAD program in US retail market unit sales for over eight months.

TurboCAD v8 Professional introduces a new Design Director that allows users to organize, access and explore design alternatives easily. Layers, Workplanes, Views, Lights, and Cameras can be controlled from a single palette. Layer Sets, Light Sets and Camera Sets can be created, named and saved so that they can be transported easily to different designs. Using Categories and Graphics, users view and assign properties to special selection sets without the constraint of Layers. Other general design enhancements include a new Section tool, which “slices” single or multiple 3D objects to create 2D cross-sections and 3D sections, and Workplane By Facet for instant selection of Workplanes. TurboCAD v8 and TurboCAD v8 Professional have a suggested retail prices of $99.95 and $499.95, respectively. Current TurboCAD users can purchase upgrades directly from IMSI by calling 800/833-4674 or online.
