Indus’s PassPort aids merger of Florida Power and Carolina Power & Light

December 19, 2003—A common business process was implemented by Progress Energy, the result of the merger of Florida Power and Carolina Power & Light, with Indus International’s PassPort solution. PassPort includes maintenance management, supply chain, and safety and compliance functionality, which helped the company design a common business process that incorporated the expertise from its 30-plus plant sites. It also gained competitive advantage in both regulated and unregulated electricity markets. Progress also incorporated some key components of Indus’s implementation methodology called Abacus.

The ability to integrate multiple business units across the entire enterprise, including nuclear, fossil, gas turbine, and transmission and distribution using the Indus enterprise asset management (EAM) solution has helped provide a consistent business process across the enterprise, reports Indus. As a result, costs have been substantially reduced while increasing safety and efficiency through a better EAM business process. The Brunswick Nuclear plant near Wilmington, NC, achieved a world record after 707 days of safe operation without interruption, according to Indus.
