MicroMain’s Web maintenance module now with mobile, cross-browser compatibility

October 29, 2004—MicroMain Corporation’s new xmWEB v6.1 is an upgrade used with MicroMain XM—MicroMain’s flagship computerized maintenance management (CMMS)/enterprise asset management (EAM) system—to allow users to submit maintenance work requests and check work status via the Internet.

The upgraded xmWEB module, built on the Microsoft .NET Framework using ASP.NET technologies, provides cross-browser functionality. New compatibility with mobile browsers also enables users to submit work requests using their Web-enabled handheld devices.

With xmWEB v6.1, users can now send e-mail notifications to designated recipients as well as work requests to the maintenance department. Users are able to check on the status of their requested work at any time. After selecting criteria such as property or asset, users can view a list of their selected work requests, including status of work. Detailed information, such as priority assigned or due date, can also be viewed for each work request.

Administrators for xmWEB can now limit assets to specific types—area, equipment, or vehicle—to streamline maintenance-workflow management. They can also secure sensitive information by utilizing new xmWEB encryption options.

xmWEB is often used by MicroMain customers in a service desk setting, where tenants, employees, or contractors phone in or e-mail work requests to staff at a help desk or front desk; the staff then submit accepted requests to the maintenance department. The module is also frequently used in a user-direct environment. This includes faculty or students in multi-campus facilities, healthcare workers in hospital complexes, retail chain managers, office professionals, and other individuals who submit work requests directly to a centralized maintenance department.
