March 11, 2002—The merger of NACORE and the International Development Research Council (IDRC) into CoreNet Global has entered its transition phase with the dissolution of NACORE on January 1, 2002. All members were converted automatically into CoreNet Global Members. Similarly on May 1, 2002, all IDRC members will be converted to CoreNet members. When this transition phase is complete, CoreNet Global will have more than 6,000 members.
There are 35 NACORE chapters and 28 IDRC chapters in North America. Some decisions about whether they will be merged or remapped are still pending. Each organizations education programs are being converted as well into CoreNet Learning, a four track educational training program that is still being developed. CoreNet Global is being run via joint headquarters in West Palm Beach, Fla. and Atlanta. A decision on whether there will be a single headquarters is forthcoming.
The first CoreNet Global Summit will be held in Salt Lake City, May 4-8. For more information, contact CoreNet Global.
