NEC Mitsubishi launches its first LED backlit LCD display

May 28, 2004—NEC Mitsubishi Electronics Display of America, Inc., has introduced a high-end 21.3 UXGA LED backlit LCD monitor, marking NEC Mitsubishi’s second product release in its new ultra wide color gamut display initiative. The wide color LCD display uses Luxeon LEDs from Lumileds Lighting.

Designed to deliver a standardized color space for perfect color matching across all digital platforms and devices, the new wide gamut monitor integrates NEC’s Super Advanced Super Fine TFT (SA-SFT) panel technology with LED backlight technology from Lumileds Lighting, the manufacturer of Lexeon LEDs designed for integration into LCD displays and other general lighting products.

The partnership with Lumileds Lighting has enabled NEC Mitsubishi to develop this groundbreaking display that exceeds the Adobe RGB color space, according to NEC Mitsubishi. The new LED backlight uses Luxeon DCC, an RGB light source, that generates white light with an enhanced color spectrum and allows for tuning of the white point which, when allied with a feedback sensor, ensures that the display operates consistently over time.

The 21.3-inch LED backlit LCD will be available in Q4 2004. The display will be available in a black cabinet and is backed by a three-year, limited parts and labor warranty, with technical support available 24/7 by calling 800/632-4662.
