NIOSH releases online information on chemical agents for emergency response

March 26, 2003—The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) has created a new page on its Web site for Chemical Agent Information as part of its Emergency Response Resources section.

The page covers such chemical agents as Cyanide, Sarin, Nitrogen Mustard, Sulfur Mustard, VX, Abrin, and others.

For each of the chemicals, NIOSH offers Emergency Response Cards, information, and links. Information for first responders includes agent-specific identification, medical symptoms, prevention & personal protective equipment, fire fighting, sampling & analytical methods, decontamination, spillage disposal, and packaging & labeling information.
