December 13, 2002—Indus International announces that the diversified energy company Northeast Utilities has standardized its eCommerce and supply chain systems on Indus Software Solutions. The company is replacing an earlier, customized version of Indus software with a comprehensive solution based on Indus PassPort Release 9, confirming the industry-leading functionality and scalability of this latest release of PassPort.
While the depth and breadth of functionality offered by PassPort is reportedly what led Northeast Utilities to choose the product years ago, new Web technology in Indus Vision products convinced the company it was time to commit to the Release 9 baseline product. Features such as the new Java-based user interface in Portal/J, which gives users access to PassPort over the Web, and utilization of XML technology within Indus’ eProcurement tool, IndusBuyDemand, were key factors in the decision, according to Northeast’s IT Supply Chain Produce Center Manager Domenic Gugliotti. Indus’ support for Java, mobile solutions, decision support, open systems architecture, and Web services also helped Northeast decide to move to a PassPort baseline strategy.
