by Jbs080708 c5 — August 11, 2008—Redemtech, global provider of IT asset disposition and Technology Change Management services, has announced that it has been selected by The Pepsi Bottling Group, Inc. (PBG) to handle its electronic waste (e-waste) initiatives. In this capacity, Redemtech will develop and manage the company’s comprehensive asset recovery and disposition program designed to keep PBG electronic equipment from entering the waste stream.
Redemtech will be responsible for recovering, refurbishing, redeploying, reselling, and recycling electronics at all of PBG’s locations in the US and Canada. Pepsi will work with Redemtech to ensure that the company’s surplus electronics are disposed of in an environmentally responsible manner.
PBG’s work with Redemtech complements existing initiatives already underway to minimize the company’s environmental footprint and improve all the communities in which it serves. PBG is leveraging technology and process innovation to improve water conservation, decrease energy consumption, drive world-class recycling, and reduce solid waste.
Redemtech claims to have a strict zero-landfill, zero-export, zero-incineration, zero-prison labor policy for managing e-waste, along with the technology, automated processes, and infrastructure necessary to support those policies. Redemtech says its Environmental Management System (EMS) significantly exceeds all environmental standards required by law, and is certified and governed by ISO 14001 standards.
Recently, Redemtech was selected as one of the first recipients of IDC’s Green Recycling and Asset Disposal for the Enterprise (G.R.A.D.E.) certification, focusing on the US market. Additionally, Redemtech says it has committed to uphold the world’s most rigorous mandates for the dismantling and recycling of e-waste by signing The Electronics Recycler’s Pledge of True Stewardship.
