July 9, 2004—A spectacular display of exotic plants from around the world has secured Rentokil Tropical Plants a Silver Gilt Medal at this year’s Chelsea Flower Show in the UK. The eye-catching design for the Royal Horticultural Society’ s esteemed horticultural show was comprised of over 30 varieties, set in deep red containers, from Africa, Asia, and the Americas.
Garden designer Paul Sturgess handpicked most of the plants from nurseries in Holland, the source of the majority of Rentokil Tropical Plants. A three-meter “Song of India” tree took center stage, towering over the fiery red Bromeliads, lush Chinese Fan Palms, and deep green Cycas Revolutas, says the company. This year Rentokil’s stand also boasted its own signature plant, the Yucatan Fantasy—nine years in development, only a limited number have been grown.
The past four years have seen Rentokil Tropical Plants win two RHS Gold Medals and two Silver Gilt Medals at Chelsea. Part of Rentokil Initial, Rentokil Tropical Plants provides plant displays for sale or rental to a diverse client base in the UK ranging from offices, banks, and shopping centers to hotels, hospitals, and ocean liners.
