SMART Technologies launches new Sympodium interactive pen display

January 28, 2004—SMART Technologies Inc. has introduced the next generation Sympodium interactive pen display, featuring enhanced functionality at a list price of $2,499. The small footprint of the new Sympodium ID250 interactive pen display makes it easy to use with a variety of podiums, tables or desks, says the company. Five function buttons provide quick access to Notebook software and features such as the on-screen keyboard and floating tools.

Meeting facilitators and project managers work from the ID250 using the tethered pen as a mouse to control, edit and annotate over computer-based material. The room’s projector connects to the ID250 and displays the presentation onto a larger screen, so participants can easily follow along while the facilitator stands at the podium or remains seated in a natural group setting. The ID250 features all the interactive functions and annotation capabilities of the SMART Board interactive whiteboard, SMART’s flagship product. The ID250 costs 30 percent less than previous Sympodium models.

Features include:

  • Interactive Screen: The presenter simply touches the screen with the pen to control computer applications and write electronic notes.
  • Pen-Tool and Function Buttons: The pen-tool buttons make it easy to change pen settings such as ink color or eraser. The function buttons provide quick, convenient access to Notebook software and features such as the on-screen keyboard, Floating Tools and Screen Capture tool.
  • Battery-Free Tethered Pen: The battery-free pen requires no maintenance and does not need charging.
  • SMART Board and SMART Ideas Software: The ID250 comes with SMART Board software. With SMART Board software, users can write over top of any computer application in electronic ink, write and edit notes, record data and audio, and write over top of moving or still video.
  • SMART Ideas concept-mapping software is ideal for brainstorming, organizing ideas and planning projects. The combination of SMART Board software and SMART Ideas software creates a powerful set of templates and tools, including an expandable clip-art gallery and the ability to incorporate any multimedia or file type into concept maps and diagrams.
  • Tiltstand: Provides a range of angles for viewing and writing comfort.
  • VESA Mounting Plate: Users can integrate the ID250 into a wide range of installations. Any VESA-75 LCD mounting arm may be used.
  • RGB Video Pass-Through: Connect the Sympodium interactive display to a digital projector so both devices show the same image.
