Software causing malfunction in some Simplex fire alarm control panels

The General Services Administration (GSA) has advised that a software upgrade is needed to prevent possible system malfunction in certain Simplex Time Recorder Company fire alarm control panels. The faulty software is in the Simplex Model No. 4010 Fire Alarm Control Panel manufactured between January of 1998 and September of 2000.

According to Simplex, under certain circumstances a software anomaly could cause the system to fail to receive information from one or more of the peripheral sensor devices, causing the peripheral smoke detector’s blinking light (LED) to stop blinking. The system should be reset at the fire alarm panel if an LED light is not blinking.
