Teknion celebrates new plant openings and five successful years in Malaysia

On January 13, Teknion celebrated the opening of a new plant in Klang, the expansion of its Tangkak plant, and five years of success in Malaysia with an event for 700 employees, dealers, suppliers, and clients. The addition of 180,000 square feet of manufacturing space in Malaysia is part of Teknion’s recently announced 1.1 million square foot expansion worldwide.

Canadian-based Teknion has had great success in Malaysia, where operations led international sales with almost 50% growth in 2000. The additional manufacturing space is to satisfy the high demand for Teknion’s products throughout Asia. The company posted year-over-year sales growth of 44% to $643.5 million (Canadian) in the first nine months of fiscal 2000.

Teknion’s Advanced Concepts Program, a process for design, research, and exploration, was showcased at the event for the first time outside of North America. It identifies trends in work, demographics, technology, archi tecture and planning—and translates them into new ideas for office furniture and working environments.

Teknion, an international designer, manufacturer, and marketer of office systems and related office furniture products, has won more than 50 design awards since 1997. Headquartered in Toronto, Canada, the company employs more than 4,700 people at offices and facilities in Canada, the United States, United Kingdom, Western Europe, and the Pacific Rim, with over 450 authorized dealers worldwide.
