July 15, 2005— UNICCO Service Company, one of North Americas largest integrated facilities services outsourcing companies, has been awarded a $2.2 million five-year contract with a two-year extension from the University of Bridgeport in Connecticut.
UNICCO is providing total integrated facilities services for the large urban campus on Long Island Sound, including all mechanical, maintenance, grounds, housekeeping and subcontracting, says the company.
UNICCO will also develop and introduce several operational and technological innovations to help the university better manage its assets. It will install the MAXIMO computerized maintenance system from MRO Software to track all expenses, work orders, preventative maintenance and subcontract activities. Later this year, UNICCO will implement online work order management and introduce UNICCOs proprietary UNI-Q inspection system for janitorial services.
The company is also rolling out its GreenClean program, an approach that uses environmentally friendly chemicals and teaches healthful work practices to employees, and will extend the same processes and procedures to its subcontractors. The myUNICCO.com online communication portal will be used to keep administration apprised of all facilities functions and will be the repository of key documents and procedures.
