March 22, 2004—The CyberKey Authorizer brings network and modem capabilities to the CyberLock Access Control System. The Authorizer allows management to control access and audit remote site activity from one central location. Users can receive their access privileges and entry authorization daily at the exterior of a building by inserting their key into the Authorizer. At the same time, a record of their activities from the previous day is downloaded to a host computer. For extra security, the systems software provides exception reports and notification of at-risk events by email.
A comprehensive audit trail of all activity is stored in both the locks and keys. Keys can be set to expire automatically at specific times and dates. Each user key carries a schedule of what locks the key is authorized to open, at what times and days, and the length of time the key is valid. Most importantly, one key can be programmed to access safes, doorways, cabinets, and padlocks throughout an entire facility.
CyberKey Authorizer is an enhancement to the CyberLock access control system. This remote station allows a computer and a key to exchange information via either a network or modem connection. For example, a company that has installed the CyberLock system at multiple locations over a large geographical area can control the access schedules of all keys from one central location. A manager has the option of requiring a user to enter a PIN number when authorizing their key at a remote location.
The Authorizer consists of two parts: the keyport and hub. The keyport is typically installed at the outside entrance of a facility, and has a display, a keypad, and a connection for the key. The hub communicates directly to the host computer real-time, if connected with an internal network. If the modem connection is used, then the hub receives daily calls from the host computer with the authorized access update.
